KUALA LUMPUR: An Islamic management standard should be in place to benchmark services and practices to boost the efficiency and calibre of those providing religious services, said the Prime Minister.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said since the country was moving towards ensuring higher efficiency through various transformation programmes, it was important that those providing religious services be included.
“A dynamic organisation must continuously change and progress in line with current demands and according to the needs of the community.
“Apart from physical development, the most crucial change is the one that needs to be made to one’s mind and spirit.
“The government is committed towards the development of Islam and has continuously looked at the structure of religious administration to find ways to further strengthen its role,” he said when opening the Islamic management system transformation carnival at the Putra World Trade Centre here yesterday.
Najib said to remain relevant, religious institutions need to provide the best service based on systematic and well-planned development.
Najib added that Islamic teachings in the country exist not only in the lives of individuals but also in the administration, legislation, judiciary, education, economy and finance as well as international diplomacy and relations.
“Malaysia has become a reference point for the development of knowledge and implementation of Islamic banking and finance. We need to provide a skilled and knowledgeable workforce and “export” our experts to become international leaders in these fields,” he said.
