A MARRIED man who had earlier stabbed his lover to death after she refused to elope with him, jumped into her funeral pyre and was burnt alive.
Malaysia Nanban reported that Kalpesh Rana, a betel nut seller in Godhra village, Gujrat, India, was in love with Bhavini Patel, a married lady who lived in the same village.
Kalpesh decided to divorce his wife to marry her but Bhavini's huband managed to persuade her to end her affair.
He went to Bhavini's home on Thursday morning and asked her to elope with him.
When she refused Kalpesh took out a knife from his pocket, stabbed her repeatedly and fled the scene. She later died in hospital.
While her body was being cremated, Kalpesh, who was drenched in petrol, jumped into the fire.
It was reported that police said they could only identify him from his wallet and other belongings left behind.

Makkal Osai quoted R. Sureshkumar as saying that the Malaysian Tamil Secondary School Committee would be forwarding a proposal to Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
He said that he had been informed that Penang was also planning to set up a Tamil secondary school in the state.
He said that the National Educational Policy allowed for the setting up of such schools by the Government or private sector.
He said that many Indian students dropped out of secondary school as they were unable to cope with studies in Bahasa Malaysia.
Tamil Nesan reported that Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin had said that Barisan Nasional had always fulfilled its promises to the people and had no intention of misleading them.
He said this after attending a Deepavali function organised by the Bukit Bangsar MIC branch in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
