JAKARTA: Indonesia has not lost any of its territories in Camar Bulan and Tanjung Datu to Malaysia, said its Armed Forces (TNI) chief Admiral Agus Suhartono.
He told the Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat that its personnel had been carrying out surveillance along West Kalimantan, in line with the countries' agreement and that all border posts were equipped with coordinate data for border marking.
“In the event that the markings are found to be in different positions, together we will return them to their coordinates,” he said when briefing the Dewan here yesterday.
Agus also said local media reports claiming otherwise had psychologically affected TNI personnel stationed there.
“Their reports belittle the personnel's duties and deny their roles in these areas,” he said. “TNI personnel were taken aback by the reports because it is as though they have not done their job properly.”
Agus made the representation to the Dewan based on reports filed by Tanjungpura armed forces chief Maj-Gen Geerhan Lantara, who visited the two areas.
Maj-Gen Geerhan did this following claims by Dewan deputy chief commissioner TB Hasanuddin of Parti Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan that Malaysia had illegally taken 1,500ha in Camar Bulan and 800m of coast lines in Tanjung Datu.
In Sambas, West Kalimantan, Desa Temajuk village head Mulyadi Kidang, who accompanied Indonesian military personnel and government representatives to look at the border marker in Camar Bulan, confirmed that it was still intact.
“Besides, it is in a jungle area. So, it is not true that Malaysia has seized Indonesian land.”
Mulyadi said the people of Desa Temajuk also enjoyed good relations with the villagers of Kampung Telok Melano in Sematan, Sarawak.
