RAUB: Twelve items will come under the festive season price control scheme in conjunction with Deepavali on Oct 26.
The Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry will announce the list today.
Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the announcement was important to prevent traders from taking advantage of the festival to hike prices of essential goods.
“The ministry guarantees there will be sufficient supply of essential goods during the Deepavali week.”
Ismail said wholesalers, suppliers and traders had been given ample time to stock up the items, adding that his ministry would monitor the prices of the controlled items 10 days before and after the festival. — Bernama
