GEORGE TOWN: A. Kasturi, 33, and D. Maria Rajeshwari, 27, received their best Christmas presents ever when their sons who went missing for 10 days were found at the Rifle Range flats.
The boys claimed they were abducted and later dropped off at the flats.
Kasturi, a housewife, hugged her son Dass Robert, seven, in front of the Air Itam police station after their statements were recorded.
“I'm relieved to see him again. Thank God he is fine.
“Now, our family will celebrate a joyful Christmas,” she said.
Rajeshwari, 25, a security guard, was also thankful that her son D. Santiran, eight, was safe.
The two boys were apparently spotted walking in front of the flats there by a resident at about 12.30pm.
Resident M. Komathi, 25, then informed Rukun Tetangga committee member S. Supramaniam.
Komathi said the boys told her that they were dropped off at the flats by a taxi driver.
“I recognised them because their posters were distributed to the residents in the flats,” she said.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the boys told the police they were playing in the basketball court when a woman approached them.
“They claimed she took them to a house in Hong Seng Estate and they were confined there by a man.
“However, the statements given by the boys were confusing and a thorough investigation will be carried out,” he said.
ASP Gan added that the boys were sent for a medical check-up at the Penang Hospital at about 1.45pm and are healthy.
It was reported that Dass and Santiran failed to return home after playing at a basketball court in the flats on Dec 13.
