Nokia N9, the company’s soon-to-arrive phone, is slated for release in Sweden, tomorrow, that is, September 23. This
smartphone, based on the MeeGo operating system, is supposedly Nokia’s comeback vehicle, which will reinstate the brand as one of the finest in the mobile industry. What is so special about it and what makes it so desirable even before its release? Here are the top 5 reasons to get the Nokia N9 for yourself.
- Unique Design
The Nokia N9 comes with a fabulous 3.9” AMOLED touchscreen, with a sleek and stylish body with a slightly curved surface, as opposed to usual other Nokia models. The case is made from a single piece of polycarbonate plastic and hence, does not have removable covers. This form factor is most striking and is bound to immediately attract the eye of one and all around.
- Button-Less, Swipe UI
Nokia’s first Windows Phone, it is rumored, may try and copy the N9’s looks and design. However, the thing that most stands out in the Nokia N9 is the complete lack of physical keyboard and other buttons to control the home screen or any other screen, for that matter. This smartphone will be completely controlled by a swipe interface, which is different from anything one has ever seen in a smartphone so far.
- MeeGo Operating System
The best thing about the Nokia N9 is its brand new MeeGo OS, which is expected to be infinitely better than the Symbian OS. This OS comes with amazing capabilities that might well give Android a run for its money. All phone processes are controlled via three hybrid screens. The first one gives the user all kinds of notifications, including mobile social messaging ones. The second screen offers the traditional apps one can expect to see in any smartphone. The third and the best screen is the one with multitasking capabilities.
Unlock is easily achieved with a double tap, which is very different from Android’s downward swipe. All-in-all, the MeeGo OS may well prove itself to be the mobile OS of the future.
- Storage and Connectivity
The Nokia N9 comes in two versions – one with 16GB internal storage and the other with 64GB internal storage, which is much more than most other
smartphones in the market. It additionally includes a 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM and PowerVR SGX530 graphics card. Connectivity options include WiFi, 3G and
Bluetooth 2.1.
- Powerful Multimedia Capabilities
The Nokia N9 comes with a powerful 8MP camera with a Carlzeiss lens and superior flash, which is one of its best ever features. This mobile device is also capable of many powerful multimedia features, such as fine picture adjustments, touch focus and geo-tagging. The camera is also capable of capturing 720p video. Dolby digital speakers add to the audio clarity of the device. Other features include proximity sensors, accelerometer, digital compass, OVI Maps and much more.
The Nokia N9 will be available for $660 for the 16GB version and for $749 for the 64GB version.
