KUALA TERENGGANU: The police are on the trail of a man who threatened a female deputy public prosecutor at gunpoint.
Terengganu police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Jamshah Mustafa said police believe the threat may be linked to DPP Zalina Awang’s past cases. “We are not ruling out the possibility that the suspect, in his 50s, may be an accused in one of her cases,” he said when contacted yesterday.
SAC Jamshah said the suspect was a coward for threatening the DPP who was with her daughter at the time.
It was previously reported that Zalina was in a car with her 14-year-old daughter at about 11am on Sunday when a motorcyclist, wearing aserban (turban), drew near and tapped on her side window.
The man in his 50s, then whipped out a semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at her.
When the lights turned green, Zalina quickly drove away into Jalan Syed Hussin with the motorcyclist in pursuit.
He trailed Zalina but sped away when she stopped at a crowded bus station.
SAC Jamshah urged anyone with information to contact 09-632 2222 or investigating officer Asst Supt Malik Mehat at 019-413 5595.
