Lightning kills teen

PENDANG: A teenager was killed after lightning stuck him near his house in Kampung Alor Kumbang, Bukit Jenun, yesterday on Sunday.
Mohd Helmi Omar, 17, died at the scene under a coconut tree during rain at 6.15pm, his father Omar Daud, 45, told Bernama at Yan Hospital.
Omar said his son returned home at 5.30pm after helping his uncle at the padi field.
He went out shortly, when the rain started, to check on his uncle, Abu Bakar, 56.
"My brother rushed home to inform that Mohd Helmi had been struck by lightning while standing under a coconut tree," he said.
