KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 69,293 names of dead voters have been removed from the electoral roll between July and Sept 15.
This was done by the Election Commission (EC) with the cooperation of the National Registration Department (NRD).
The EC also removed 1,068 names of voters who had been stripped of Malaysian citizenship by the NRD.
EC secretary Datuk Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria said in a statement yesterday that the commission was also investigating the status of 50,000 voters in the electoral roll to ensure their names were not removed by mistake. — Bernama
