KUANTAN: Seven people died in four separate accidents in the state on Sunday.
The dead included two teenagers in an accident involving three motorcycles at Jalan Besar-Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Bandar Jengka, Maran, said state public order and traffic chief Supt Mohamed Fauzi Abdul Rahim.
He added that the accident occurred at about 12.10am when two motorcycles travelling in the same direction accidentally brushed against each other.
“The two motorcyclists and a pillion rider fell and were then hit by another motorcyclist coming from behind,” Supt Mohamed Fauzi said here yesterday.
Mohd Shahfahme Mustapha, 21, died at Jengka Hospital while Zulhilmi Haris, 15, and Mohamad Lokman Hakim Mohd Rosly, 16, died on the spot, he said.
In the second incident in Bera, two people died and another one was injured after their car skidded and landed in a ditch at KM43 along Jalan Temerloh-Kuantan.
Car driver Low Chee Hong, 22, and one of the passengers, Sam Jian Hui, 19, died on the spot while another suffered serious injuries in the 4am accident.
Supt Mohamed Fauzi also said a motorcyclist died after he was involved in a crash with a lorry at KM41 along Jalan Pekan-Nenasi at about 5.30pm.
Ramali Abd Rahaman, 57, was believed to have emerged from a junction and rode on the wrong side of the road before colliding with the lorry.
The fourth accident occurred in Maran when a car passenger died after the driver lost control of the vehicle she was in and hit the side of a hill.
Supt Mohamed Fauzi said the accident occurred at about 7.45pm at KM165 along the East Coast Expressway when Choo Lee Yee, 28, and two friends were on their way from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan.
“It was raining heavily and the car skidded and crashed into the hill,'' he added.
